Mangrove Bay hosted its first pre-season event on the deck behind its waterfront sales center, offering guests live music, boat tours of the property, and a wonderful array of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres (including fresh stone crabs) — but it was Mother Nature who supplied the soft breeze and glorious sunset along the Gordon River and provided the gorgeous backdrop. Host Jon Rubinton, of Mangrove Bay Development, LLC, gathered with guests that included area notables, prospective buyers and the lucky few who have already purchased a home at Mangrove Bay, and members of the local media. NAPLES, Fla. – After nearly three decades of dreams and planning, the Gordon River Greenway — two miles of winding trails, boardwalks, bridges and streams connecting Golden Gate Parkway to central Naples — will officially open to the public Thursday.
The Naples City Council, Collier County commissioners and others involved in the 27-year project will gather at 8:30 a.m. Thursday for a ribbon-cutting at the kayak launch, located at 1590 Goodlette-Frank Rd., the east end of the joint parking lot between Naples Zoo and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.
“It’s been quite an effort for a quarter of a century,” said Scott Cameron, a former Southwest Florida Land Preservation Trust president who helped get it started in 1987. “It’s been a great collaborative effort between people who really cared. We’ve had fabulous board members over the years.”

Mangrove Bay, an exclusive collection of just 53 homes set along Old Naples’ last remaining significant waterfront property for residential development began driving pilings on three model homes, the Amelia III, the Sanibel III Courtyard Residence, and the Keewaydin II, decorated by the award-winning firm of Freestyle Interiors.
There are a total of six different single family home floorplans available at Mangrove Bay, each with three distinct elevations – and every home includes a private pool, patios and dedicated boat slip.
The Amelia III model is a four-bedroom + den, four-and-½ bath residence that includes a second-floor guest house. With approximately 3,640 SF under air, this model will evoke a classic seaside cottage with authentic heart pine floors, traditional bead board accents, beamed ceilings, bench seat reading nooks, and stacked stone for its two fireplaces. Mangrove Bay is now offering prospective buyers private waterside tours by boat departing from the dock at its Sales Center, a wonderful way to view the natural beauty of the property and see the perspective of their future home site from the vantage point of their own personal dock slip.
Mangrove Bay, a limited collection of only 53 homes with private boat docks available on Old Naples last remaining significant waterfront residential property, has secured the necessary permits and commenced site improvements for Phase One, consisting of the first 43 lots. These site improvements include clay brick streets; underground utilities featuring the latest fiber optics, natural gas feeds to every home, and burying the FPL power lines along Goodlette Road; a new entryway to the community; and lush landscaping.
“We’re very excited to begin these site improvements, and see the great progress being made toward building Mangrove Bay, Old Naples newest premiere community,” said Jon Rubinton of Mangrove Bay Development, LLC. “This is a perfect time for buyers to take advantage of pre-construction pricing and secure a coveted waterfront location while they still have the ability to do so. In a few months’ time, the selection will be more limited, and prices are projected to rise with increased demand and construction activity in the downtown market.”
